Advancing Marine Science, Collaboration, and Innovation for Sustainable Coastal Environments
The Marine Research Institute (MRI), which operates under Klaipėda University (KU), engages in both fundamental and applied research concerning the marine and coastal environment, as well as maritime technologies. The primary objective of the Institute is to promote collaboration among science, education, and industry. This collaboration is built upon a foundation of advanced scientific expertise and the modern research infrastructure of the Marine Valley, which is readily accessible.
Within the scope of the RESTORE4Cs project partnership, KU‘s MRI has taken on the responsibility for overseeing a case study site situated within Europe’s largest coastal lagoon: the Curonian Lagoon. Our team members are also involved in monitoring, data collection and analysis, biogeochemistry, modelling, remote sensing and stakeholder involvement activities within the project.
