RESTORE4Cs Autumn Series 2025: Save the Date

The RESTORE4Cs (Modelling RESTORation of wEtlands for Carbon pathways, Climate Change mitigation and adaptation, ecosystem services, and biodiversity, Co-benefits) project assesses the role of restoration action on wetlands capacity in terms of climate change mitigation and a wide range of ecosystem services using an integrative socio-ecological systems approach.

The main output of the project consists of a digital platform that will serve as a Decision Support System (DSS) for stakeholders around wetland restoration for climate change mitigation, biodiversity, and other services. This platform will provide stakeholders and wetland practitioners at all levels with more reliable estimation of cost and benefits in order to drive and prioritise wetlands restoration actions.

This digital platform, how it matches the needs of restoration with the opportunities available, the new regulations at the EU level regarding restoration and in particular coastal wetlands, and a new approach to analyse local context and greenhouse gas will constitute the main focus of two training programmes that will take place in Malaga (Spain) from 3 to 6 November 2025.

Organised by the RESTORE4Cs project, these two programmes will be aimed on one hand at researchers, early users of the toolbox, and wetlands and restoration managers as well as, on the other, at experts in national or sub-national authorities, research organisations and institutions or associations directly or indirectly included in the decision-making process in evaluating coastal wetlands or the implementation of policies on coastal wetland restoration, advising experts and regional/national managers of protected areas, and operational managers.

The 4-day RESTORE4Cs Autumn School 2025 for the Scientific Community will take place from 3-6 November 2025 welcoming 20 participants, offering them accommodation, travel (up to a predetermined amount, if exceeded participants will have to cover the difference) and lunch for the duration of the programme.

The 2-day RESTORE4Cs Training for Policy Makers will take place from 5-6 November 2025 welcoming 10-15 policy makers, offering them accommodation, travel (up to a predetermined amount, if exceeded participants will have to cover the difference) and lunch for the duration of the programme.

Call for Applications will open in August.
