We are pleased to announce that the RESTORE4Cs section has been officially accepted for the 6th ESP Europe Conference (ESP2026), taking place 18–22 May 2026 in Prague, Czechia.
The accepted section, titled “Restoration potential of coastal wetlands in Europe for climate change mitigation and co-benefits,” will contribute to advancing knowledge on how restoring coastal wetlands can support climate mitigation, biodiversity recovery, and socio-economic benefits for communities across Europe.
About ESP2026 Europe Conference
ESP2026 Europe Conference is now open for abstract submissions, offering an important platform to share research, case studies, and innovative solutions related to ecosystem services with an international community of scientists, practitioners, and policymakers.
Conference Theme:
Advancing ecosystem services knowledge for achieving a nature- and people-positive Europe
In a context of biodiversity loss, climate uncertainty, political change, and socio-economic inequalities, ESP2026 will explore how ecosystem services can support Europe’s green transition while promoting equity, justice, and sustainable development. The conference will also address how policies such as the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030 and the Nature Restoration Law can be translated into effective and inclusive action.
RESTORE4Cs Section Focus
The RESTORE4Cs section will bring together contributions that examine:
- The climate mitigation potential of coastal wetland restoration
- Co-benefits for biodiversity, ecosystem services, and human well-being
- Nature-based solutions for coastal resilience
- Policy, governance, and socio-economic dimensions of restoration in Europe
This section aligns strongly with ESP2026 streams on climate and natural solutions, ecosystem restoration and resilience, and equity and justice in ecosystem services.
